2012 Medicine Hat Stampede week:
The 2012 Medicine Hat Stampede week is upon us and the Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS) has joined forces with the Medicine Hat Safe Community Association (MHSCA) and the Alberta Community Crime Prevention Association (ACCPA) to launch an initiative to help the police with the identification and location of missing children effectively and efficiently at this years event.
Parents can register themselves and their children free of charge at the Stampede with onsite volunteers of MHSCA in the event a child goes missing or is separated unexpectedly. Parents and children will be given wrist bands to wear with a designated number which links to a data base of personal contact information and the description of the child that day. If a child is found, parents can be notified immediately and if missing, a physical description can be given out over the air in a timely fashion.
This is a pilot project for MHPS and MHSCA with the hopes it may be used in the future at other large events in Medicine Hat. For more information, please contact:
